Day 11 - Mary Judah's Birthday

Ninja Cupcakes

I was awakened this morning by the sweet voice of my granddaughter Mary Judah around 7:30 am. I think I was the first one to get to wish her Happy Birthday. After a birthday breakfast of Texas shaped waffles, MJ opened her presents. After we all got dressed and her Dad left for work, the Ruddlets played with MJs present (Crazy Fort) that her Papa and Nana got her and drafted me to help with the construction of a tent frame using them. Kristen and I went to the store to get some items for the party and the rest of the morning was filled with Kristen making Ninja cupcakes for the Ninja/Princess party. My youngest daughter Katie and her husband Josh had flown in from Dallas on Saturday to surprise MJ for her birthday and while Josh played with the kids, Katie made Ninja masks for them for the party.

We had lunch and left for the Julius Kahn playground around 2:45 for the 3 pm playground date with the home school kids and combined it with the birthday party. Joshua, Kristen's husband joined us around 4 pm at the park and once he got there we lit a candle on one cupcake, trying to shield it from the wind and singing the fastest version of Happy Birthday ever, so MJ could blow out the candle before the wind did. Cupcakes were enjoyed by all ninjas and ninja parents, aunt, uncle and granddad. Afterwards, we went to a local Italian restaurant recommended by one of Kristen's friends and had pizza and pasta, returning home around 7 pm.

After baths for the Ruddlets, we did a video chat with the other grandparents and then the kiddos went to bed. It has been a good day in SF.
